About the Consulate

The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Jeddah was initially established as a separate Consular Office of the Sri Lanka Embassy in Riyadh in April 1997. Later this was upgraded to a Consulate General in 1998.  

Mr. M.U.M. Ali Sabri (PC) served as the first Consul General (1997-2000), followed by Mr. A.C.M. Ibrahim(2000-2004), Mr. A.M.J. Sadiq (2004-2005), Mr. M. Inamullah (2005-2007), Mr. A.L.M. Lafeer (2007-2009), Mr. A. Sabarullah Khan (2010-2011), Dr. A Uthumalebb (2011-2015), Mr. M. Faizer Mackeen (2016-2017), Justice A.W.M. Salam (2018-209) and Mr. Falah Alhabshi Mowlana (2022-2024). 

Today the Consulate functions with the key focus on serving the large number of Sri Lankan expatriates who work and live in the Western Saudi Arabia, while serving the various needs of Saudi nationals and non-Sri Lankan expatriates. The Consular division and the Employment/Labour division (SLBFE), provides a gamut of services to people with different needs and interests. The Consulate General Office also plays a significant role in facilitating and coordinating Hajj and Umra pilgrims from Sri Lanka. The office closely works with the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Riyadh to promote Sri Lanka’s interest in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the areas of trade, investment and tourism.

The Consulate has been relocated to a more spacious, modern and convenient location as of May 2026 in Al -Rawdah district. The Consulate team remains committed to welcome you at our new Chancery and more than willing to provide all assistance.
